The infinite road
Juneau, Alaska has an isolated chunk of road 40 miles in length. Access takes place by plane or
ferry boat.

Not surprisingly, there's a great deal of contention over whether to extend it. Avalanche chutes
and steep mountains plummeting down into the sea make its northern extension pretty tricky. At
present, it could only go as far as another ferry.

Extending my Yukon Drives road series, I thought I should paint that road. "I'll call it the finite
road," I thought to myself.

Then I remembered the math I studied in University. How between 0 and 1 there's an infinity as
great as that between 1 and infinity, because you can invert any of those numbers - put one over
them - and they're between 0 and 1.

So I thought, I'll call it "The Infinite Road".

There are an infinite number of possible paintings in it, after all.

There will be about 40 paintings in the show. Here are 19 that trace it from its southernmost point
to the north.
