A few dresses from
100 Dresses for the end of March in Calgary
During the last two weeks of March 2009 I carried out
my
100 Dresses project as part of the St[art] residency
program in
Art Central. These were inspired by
downtown Calgary, an uncomfortable muse. It seems
to me that Calgary doesn't love being a city the way
Montreal or New York do. Still, conflict is material, and
material is exactly what I need to make the dresses.

The dresses were shown at the Keystone Art Gallery,
also in Art Central.

Now they're en route to Edmonton, where I'll get them
and make selections from that 100 as well as the 100's
from
Grande Prairie and St. Albert (still to be created
at the
Profiles Public Art Gallery.) They will go together
into a touring show for the
Alberta Foundation for the
Arts Touring Exhibition program in Northern Alberta, to
tour beginning in Sept. 2010.
